Don’t mess with the ladies of Texas

As kids, we grew up hearing stories of Texas. The cowboys and outlaws, the Texas Rangers and of course a Texas sized steak. But Texas sports something else we South Africans are envious about and that is lenient gun laws. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find a Texas family who doesn’t own a gun. And, when it comes to their guns, Texans are very proud. And they should be, their state government cares enough about them to allow them self-protection.

Another beautiful thing in Texas are their ladies. But don’t for one moment think that, because they’re beautiful, they’re a pushover. Because these ladies are packing more than lipstick and eye-shadow in their purses. Most of them are packing serious fire-power. And, in Texas, that fire-power can actively be used. There are 3 very important laws that allow Texas residents to defend themselves with deadly force if need be.

The Castle Doctrine

This bill was signed into law by Governor Rick Perry in 2007. In essence, it gives the citizen the right to defend his or her home from any type of intruder with deadly force if needs be. Basically, what it means is that, if you own a house and someone comes onto your property that means to cause you harm, you can shoot them down and the law cannot hold you responsible.

Stand Your Ground

This is a law that has been heard of before. In a nutshell, the law states that if you have a legal right to be at a certain place that experiences a shooting you have a legal right to defend yourself. Meaning that, if there’s a shooting and you’re fearing for your life you can use your firearm and be protected by the law.

Civil Immunity

This law protects people who justifiably threaten to use deadly force. It also protects the person who issue the threat from legal action directed against him by the person he or she took action against. Basically, it stops a criminal from suing his victims for damages.

With such efficient state laws in play in the Lone Star State all Texans, men and women, are effectively shielded against criminality. In effect, regardless whether you hold a Texas Concealed Handgun Licence (CHL) or not, the law allows any Texan to carry handguns on their premises, in their cars and on their person as long as not displayed in a threatening manner.

Time to stand up
Which one are you prepared to life without: guns or genocide??
